Meet the Joe 238 Crew!
Colleen Stymeist-Wood - Director/Producer
In 1990 Colleen’s one-year-old daughter received a heart transplant and a new chance at life. Since that time, Colleen has been on a quest to share the gift and her gratitude for organ donation with the world. Joe238 is both her story and that of thousands of other families who have donated and received life giving organs.
Colleen's small-town upbringing has given her the ability to see anyone eye-to-eye and know him or her as her neighbor. Tales that document the challenges and triumphs of the human spirit are the stories she looks to inspire her audiences with. Her propensity to document these stories as well as the need to satisfy her quest for adventure landed her at the University of Alaska Fairbanks where she participated in the Film program earned a degree in Applied Business Management.
Celebrating the 29th anniversary of her daughter receiving the gift of life, Colleen makes her first feature-length film in a series of stories documenting organ donation and transplantation from different perspectives. Joe238 tells the side of organ donation she doesn't know - the donor family side.
